Breakfast  Provisions

Between June 2020 and May 2021, we were funded to deliver Breakfast Provisions to Children who are eligible for Free School Meals. These provisions were delivered across 11 Wards within the Telford and Wrekin Borough. We had two collection points at the Arleston Community Centre and the Leegate Community Centre (now the Leegomery Community Centre). We also provided door-to-door delivery services for the most vulnerable.

During this period we delivered the following:

  • 12,753 Breakfast Parcels across 11 Wards (each parcel equates to 1 child)
  • 89,271 breakfasts provided
  • 83,000+ pieces of fruit distributed

Out-of-Hours Emergency Food Service

BDuring the Pandemic we were also providing Emergency Food Parcels to families and individuals in need. These are a mix of collections and deliveries. During these past 12 months, we have delivered the following:

Flash Academy Project

Working closely with the Multicultural Development team from the Telford and Wrekin Council, this project aimed to ensure that support was given to our vulnerable Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities and those who have English as an Additional Language (EAL) pupils in 2020. The aim was to ensure that all pupils were accessing education, family support, as well as emotional, mental, and psychological support during the pandemic.

Outcomes:

  • Three Secondary and eight Primary schools took part in the project
  • A total of sixty-one pupils have been directly helped as a result of the project.
  • We also provided 30+ Mini-iPads to those families who did not have the technology to access Flash Academy software from home.

Holiday Activity and Eat Well Project

During the summer holidays of 2020 (July-Sept) we delivered a holiday activity program (with a difference due to COVID-19) to local children in the Telford and Wrekin Borough. These activities included providing each child with a camera so that they could go on a family walk and take nature pictures, footballs to help get all children exercising, and colouring books and pencils to encourage the artists within. We also provided lunches and cooking ingredients to help them eat healthier, and gain the skill of cooking in the home.

Mobile Santa Grotto

With the support of the Telford and Wrekin Council, Balfour Beatty, and many volunteers we were able to run a Mobile Santa Grotto around the streets of Telford and Wrekin for the two weeks leading up to Christmas. As this was mid-Covid-19, we wanted to bring Father Christmas to the children of the Borough. Overall it is estimated that 5,000+ children experienced the Mobile Grotto, and it was so successful that it has been penned in for Christmas 2021. We also distributed over 1,500 Selection Boxes to vulnerable children during that time.

We helped provide drinks and selection boxes to help cheer up those in need.
